This project is an exploration into media architecture using a mock-up of the Santralistanbul Energy Museum. This mapping project goes beyond the surface to explore the volume within demonstrating that cities, buildings and their surrounding infrastructure are not lifeless entities, but living bodies whose pulse is driven by their inhabitants.

The Santralistanbul Energy Museum is filled with so much character. Hidden amongst the pulleys, turbines, generators and fuses are an abundance of human expression. The following images are a selection of pareidolia examples taken from the museum and around Taksim.

As I am wont to experiment with abstraction, I used the wave formula to propagate various effects while engaging the webcam as a mirror. As far as interaction is concerned, it probably wasn't the best thing to do; it would be hard for anyone who used the mirror to detect how they were effecting it. But, it was fun. However, for one of my non-abstracted mirrors, I did manage to create an RGB mirror that "prints" CMYK. The further away one moves from the webcam, the mirror's color gamut changes from RGB to CMYK.

This project is the culmination of a two-day workshop during London's Design week. Our group, whose other members included William Hooke, Marc Bonet and Marek Bereza, created an vocal instrument for visitors of the V & A.

Aušrinė, the morning star in Lithuanian mythology, is the name of a ceramics concern based in the Vilnius region. The logo, a homage to Lithuanian ornamental design, was created using The Sign of Māra that represents earth, water and all creatures within.
